Here's what others are saying about The Character Network™.
"The records show that our school had a significant reduction in office referrals especially dealing with bullying issues. I feel that this program should get part of the credit as well as the business that sponsored the program. We may never know the full impact of this program, but we can certainly say that good things are happening. Thanks again for your help."
Keith Fricks, Elementary School Principal
"The kids are really taken with the big voice that we call 'Our good friend Jim Lord!' If on the off chance a morning goes by that we do not have either a Hero or Bully tale the kids really let me know it. They like hearing about kids just like them who were able to make a difference for themselves and others as well."
Ray Morrow, Elementary School Principal
"I love this program! We use it in our school every Tuesday and Thursday. The Bully Alert is my favorite. Please continue to provide this program – it is great!"
Connie Long, Elementary School Counselor
"We love [this program]! Short and interesting. Very appropriate for our kids. There are not enough heroes in their lives today."
Steve Brownlee, Elementary School Principal
"I have noticed a difference in my student’s attitudes and treatment of each other since using this program for the last two years. WE LOVE IT!!"
Jenene Dale, Elementary School Counselor
"The program is wonderful! It is thought provoking and engaging for the students and adults alike. Since we do not have a counselor, and most of us are strapped for time, it is nice to have a character education program that we can play in our morning meetings."
Shelly Slaughter, Elementary School Principal
"We use The Beginning of a Hero and Bully Alert each day on our campus. Teachers reinforce each day’s lesson throughout the day, and as the counselor I always use lessons taught through this program for encouraging our students to make good choices. Thank you so much for making this wonderful resource available to us as East Side."
Sharon Loftin, Elementary School Counselor
"This program is a great tool! It’s easy to implement and it is effective. Students get a bit of history and a character lesson in only two minutes with Beginning of a Hero, and the Bully Alert gives them a tip or strategy to put into action immediately. The best thing is that it is ongoing—it's not a lesson that students hear and then forget."
Amy Shaw, Elementary School Counselor
"It is wonderful program and our children benefit from it so much!"
Rebecca Blalock, Elementary School Counselor
"I began the school year playing the Beginning of a Hero and the Bully Alert CDs over our school announcement system. I play them twice a week. As a counselor, this fits perfectly into our school atmosphere. I have received many comments from parents, students, and teachers about what an impact the programs have. Mr. Lord came and spoke to our students during Red Ribbon week. Our students were amazed! His presentation was fabulous."
Scott Henninger, Elementary School Counselor
"The program meshes perfectly with our Character program. The audio stories are played during morning announcements and discussed during guidance lessons. They are a valuable tool in any character education curriculum. Thanks for providing this program!"
Nyla Dowd, Elementary School Counselor
"I use Jim’s programs in three different ways. Weekly Bully and Hero messages and I use his Mr. Delaney’s Mirror for our 8th grade to discuss their future and life choices."
Sabrina Stobnicki. Youth Services Coordinator
"It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of thanks to you for your incredible Beginning of a Hero character development program. Dr. Lee Stewart from Stephen F. Austin State University told me about your program, and I knew that I had to have it. I teach a multi-age class of GT first and second graders at Dunbar Primary School in Lufkin ISD [Lufkin, Texas], and I am on the adjunct elementary education faculty at SFA.
I began using your Bully Alert CD on a daily basis. The short vignettes encouraged children to be heroes not bullies. The children who were behaving like bullies had never realized the extent of damage they were doing to some of their classmates until they heard these stories. They were angry with the bullies on the CD and very intolerant of their hurtful behavior! It took some time, but eventually the “bullies” began to recognize themselves in the stories. I am happy to report to you that I am ending the school year with a bully-free classroom! I have witnessed the transformation of bullies into heroes. It is a beautiful thing to see children saying positive things to each other, helping each other as they work side by side, and becoming true friends... Every classroom needs your program! It truly works! I have seen it work when nothing else worked for me. Thank you for helping children! God Bless You."
